Birth to Five Development Wheel

From Birth to five – a guide to child development for parents/carers.

This easy to use full-colour wheel twists around to reveal the age section you need and has information on both sides. It was our very first Development Wheel and was designed to compliment the 'Development & Learning Journey' Book which is for practitioners of children from birth to five. It also acts as an easy to use alternative.

It was developed with the Early Years and Community Services team as a follow on from the Helping Little Ones Bloom book (which was for birth to three years) by practitioners and early years advisors and contains useful information about what we might expect children to be achieving in the first five years of their life.

Split into nine sections the moveable wheel twists round to the relevant age section - the first being birth to three months and the last being age four to five. On one side of the wheel there are things that the child might/should be able to do and also a list of things that the family can do to help the child, for each age group. The reverse side gives parents information about how to keep the child safe and healthy at each stage of their development from birth through to five years old.

This simple to use one piece tool measures approx 230mm in diameter, so they are easy to carry around and all of the information contained within it was written by practitioners and early years advisors to ensure that it will meet the needs of not only parents and carers, but also practitioners, students and others working in early years.

It might have been our first Development Wheel, but it cintinues to be one of our most popular best sellars.

2. How do they work?

Each Development Wheel™ consists of three sections, with a middle ‘inner’ section that you rotate to reveal information through a window at the top. 6. Can they be customised with my organisation’s branding?

Yes. You can have your own logo and branding on the back of any Development Wheel™, and even adjust the colours to match your organisation’s style. This allows you to share important information with families and the community while promoting your brand.
